“Today is a monumental day for peace.”
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Darline Graham (R-South Carolina) today applauded the House of Representatives’ passage of the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026. The House approved this legislation by a vote of 262-159 with bipartisan support. It now heads to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
Senator Darline Graham is the lead Senate sponsor of the legislation. The Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 supports President Trump’s efforts to bring about a peaceful end to the Russia-Ukraine war and allows President Trump to continue to apply economic pressure to the Iranian regime. By increasing the President’s negotiating leverage, these sanctions and other measures will help drive Putin to the peace table.
“Today is a monumental day for peace. This legislation was deeply important to my brother, Lindsey, and I’m grateful that it achieved such a wide coalition of support on the House floor. I am committed to achieving a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine, and I’m confident that this legislation will pave the way,” Senator Darline Graham said. “I sincerely appreciate Rep. McCaul’s leadership and determination in getting this across the finish line. I’m also thankful for the work of my Senate coleads, Senators Blumenthal, Shaheen, Britt and Wicker. Their support never wavered.”
Senator Darline Graham concluded, “I would also like to thank President Trump and his team for diligently collaborating with Congress on this legislation. This bill assists President Trump in his noble efforts to bring the Russia-Ukraine war to a close and allows President Trump to keep applying strong economic pressure on the Iranian regime.”
